Trans Rights—What’s in it for you?
TEDxOhioStateUniveristy is hosting its 10th annual main event and first ever fully virtual TEDx conference, Horizons! Although 2020 posed challenges for everyone, TEDxOhioStateUniversity is looking forward and is ready to cross new horizons this spring. Here’s what Ramona has to say about her TED talk: Trans Rights – What’s in it for you?,
“Gender identity and gender expression are concepts that are both contested and widely misunderstood. Trans and non-binary folks are engaged in a pitched battle to establish and secure basic human rights in the United States and around the world. What if we re-contextualize the problem, though? What if we look at it through the lens of how affirmation of gender identity and broad autonomy for gender expression could benefit EVERYONE, inclusive of, but not exclusive to, trans and non-binary folks? How would this bring millions of people closer to self-actualization? How would this enhance individual freedom and even happiness? These are the questions I will try to answer in my TEDx talk.” – Ramona Peel
